On the 3rd July 1938 LNER A4 Class No. 4468 pulling a seven coach train reached 126m.p.h. (202.8 km/h) on Stoke Bank on the East Coast Mainline and therefore obtained the World Speed record for a steam locomotive, a record that is still unbeaten to this day. This year sees the 70th Anniversary of the record being achieved and to celebrate this milestone Hornby are producing 5000 models of the “Mallard” as it was on the momentous day with the exterior metal parts plated in 18ct gold. Each locomotive is presented in a specially commissioned pack and is complete with a numbered certificate.

R2685 BR 4-6-2 'Bude' West Country Class with Stanier Tender -2008 adet üretiliyor.
During the locomotive trials of 1948 the then fledging British Railways Board experimented with different locomotives to see how they performed on tracks outside their normal region. Part of the trials was to try different combinations of locomotives and tenders which resulted in the classic pairing of Bulleid’s West Country “Bude” and a Stanier Tender. To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of not only the locomotive trials but the formation of British Railways, 2008 limited edition models of “Bude” coupled to a Stanier tender, complete with numbered certificate have been specially prepared and are presented in a commemorative pack. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the end of steam hauled passenger services on British Railways. A specially prepared train was rostered on that fateful Sunday morning of the 11th August 1968 which ran from Liverpool to Carlisle and then back to Liverpool and was known as the “Fifteen Guinea Special”. Several locomotives were to be used during the journey with two coupled up to run double headed between Carlisle and Manchester on the return journey. These two locomotives - 44781 and 44871 - are the subject of two special limited edition models, each individually packed in a commemorative box with an accompanying numbered certificate. Each locomotive has been produced as a limited edition of 1004.

R2687 LNER 4-6-2 'Flying Scotsman' Class A3 -1000 adet üretiliyor.
In 1988 Australia celebrated its two hundredth anniversary and part of their celebrations included a visit from the World famous steam locomotive, “Flying Scotsman” owned at that time by Sir William McAlpine. During the visit “Flying Scotsman” achieved many things but above all the locomotive established a new record by steaming 442 miles (711 km) from Parks to Broken Hill without stopping making this journey the longest non-stop run ever recorded by a steam locomotive.
In view of this and the anniversary of the Bicentennial Celebrations the Hornby “Flying Scotsman” has been produced as a limited edition of 1000 models incorporating several features that could be seen on the locomotive as it travelled across Australia. Each model is supplied in a commemorative pack complete with numbered certificate.

When Frank Hornby launched his famous Hornby Dublo range of models in 1938 he created a scale of model railways that has grown and developed over the last 70 years. The range initially contained just two locomotives, an 0-6-2 locomotive and the LNER Class A4 “Sir Nigel Gresley”. In celebration of 70 years of Hornby “00” scale models a special limited edition of the “Sir Nigel Gresley” locomotive in packaging reminiscent of the classic Hornby pack designs of days gone by has been created with each of the 2008 models produced being supplied with a special numbered limited edition certificate.
